# Update budget

> Change the monthly limit of a budget, keeping its scope and this month’s usage.

`updateBudget(budgetId: ID!, input: UpdateBudgetInput!): Budget!`

## Arguments

| Argument | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `budgetId` | [`ID!`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/id) | Yes | Budget ID. A budget you cannot manage is masked as missing and fails with resource-not-found (404). |
| `input` | [`UpdateBudgetInput!`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/updatebudgetinput) | Yes | |

## Input fields

### input

[`UpdateBudgetInput`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/updatebudgetinput)

| Field | Type | Required | Description |
| - | - | - | - |
| `monthlyLimitCredits` | [`Float`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/float) | No | New monthly AI spending limit in credits. Usage already recorded this month is retained; if the new limit is below it, the next call in the scope is rejected. Supply exactly one of the credit or the deprecated USD limit. |
| `monthlyLimitUsd` | [`Float`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/float) | No | Monthly limit in USD, converted to credits at the published credit price. Deprecated: Use monthlyLimitCredits. |

## Response

Returns [`Budget!`](https://veryfront.com/docs/cloud/graphql/types/budget). Open the type for its fields and nested types.
